Do you need a vault to bury an urn?
Asked 2 years ago
Hi, we cremated our grandad, and now we have an urn with his ashes. It's been sitting on our shelf, but we've started thinking that it would be best to place him somewhere that's not in our living room. But, what do we do with a cremation urn? Do we need a vault?

The purpose of a vault is to enclose and protect the casket or urn and prevent the ground from caving in over time. Some cemeteries require that you use a burial vault when burying an urn. Generally, the vault is made of concrete, but more cost-effective options like plastic vaults perform the same function.
