I know you can be cremated no matter your religion. But how do different religions handle cremated ashes?

Religions like Islamism, Orthodox Church, and Judaism prohibit cremation. Other religions like Christianity, some Catholic denominations, Buddhism, and Hinduism allow cremation. In Hinduism, the ashes are scattered over a sacred body of water or a place of importance. In Buddhism, the ashes are generally kept on the family altar until 49 days after the cremation; then, they are buried. Catholics keep the ashes in sacred places like the church cemetery. Christians place the ashes in an urn and keep them in a special location for remembrance.
